Program Banner Summer Reading: Early Literacy

Dig into summer reading — discover that books build better readers and give you the tools to change the world. Challenge yourself to try new things and work together to make a positive change in the community.

Children and teens can level up to score some tasty treats from Chipotle, Bojangles' and Chick-fil-a, as well as, a book, Summer Reading medal and ticket to a Lexington County Blowfish Baseball game. Tracking time is easy and online. For children and teens who completed a level, stop by the library and snag your prize.

Summer Reading isn’t just for kids. Adult participants are entered to win weekly prizes at their local branch.

As you make plans, don’t forget to stop by the library each week for exciting activities for all ages. Our programs are designed to help grow your mind and body from author talks to nutritional workshops and yoga. For a complete list of events, visit www.lex.lib.sc.us/events.

How It Works

Register for an online account at home or at your local branch. Set a goal of reading 20 minutes a day. Log minutes to earn points. Each minute of reading is worth one point. Earn 120 points to complete a level and earn your prize at the library.

Things to Know

Hit 360 points and you're a reading champion — swing by the library to select your medal and book.

Prizes awarded for each level from Monday, June 12 to Saturday, August 5.
